— OUR STORY —

As first generation Vietnamese immigrants and first generation Vietnamese-Americans, the Duong-Nguyen family has always had a deep rooted passion for the produce and goods native to their homeland.

In 1990, the Nguyen family moved from Michigan to Ohio in search of the perfect land to begin their dream farm. What started as simple beds of topsoil grew to become nine massive greenhouses filled with luscious green vegetables alongside two additional structures for live chickens and ducks. Bay, Trang and their three children made weekly trips up and down I-75 selling boxes of their produce to restaurants and grocery stores. Following one life threatening trip in the winter snow, Bay wanted a safer alternative for sharing his family’s labor of love.

Several years later, in 2001, the Duong-Nguyen family came together and bought Saigon Market. The original goal of sharing produce grew into something far greater than any of them could have anticipated. Word of the new ownership and fresh, home-grown produce spread through the Metro Detroit Vietnamese community in the blink of an eye. Saigon Market earned the reputation of providing some of the highest quality Southeast Asian vegetables in the area. Bay and Trang focused on sourcing while Trang’s brother, Dat Duong, father, Mr. Hong Duong, and cousin, Di Phuong, headed the daily operations at the market.

Now, after 20 years of ownership, the Duong-Nguyen family would like to introduce you to the new and improved New Saigon Market.
